THIS month's Beaulieu Motorcycle World is the greatest motorcycle extravaganza in the south right here on our doorstep.

In celebration of the Velocette marque's centenary 100 Velos will take a massed ride around the demonstration circuit.

A secret collection of GP bikes from the winners' enclosures of the last 30 years will be presented by a mystery benefactor for the first time to the public.

Beaulieu's 1962 Mike Hailwood World Championship-winning 250cc four will also be among many historic Hondas at the event.

Thinking about buying a new bike, clothing, helmet or accessories? More than 400 trade and exhibitor stands will be on site to provide ample opportunity to see and try before buying.

World travellers and motorcycle ambassadors Charley Boorman and Kevin Saunders will lead a ride-in of BMW trailies to celebrate 25 years of the terrain-eating bikes then be on hand to sign autographs, books and DVDs.

The global ride of Charley and Ewan McGregor was bound to capture the imagination of bikers, but the biggest surprise has been the success of the TV shows, DVDs and book with non-bikers.

Charley will be giving an hour-long talk in the lecture theatre on Saturday lunchtime. Charley is a natural raconteur and happily provides details of the trip.

The talk is ticket-only. Seats can be booked for £10 from 01590 614667, quote MCW.

Ten lucky readers can get into both the event and the talk for free - the good people of Beaulieu have given us admission tickets and BMW dealer SPC the talk tickets for a competition.

All you have to do is answer this question: What make of bikes did Charley and Ewan ride on their trip?

Send your name, address and daytime phone number with the answer to: Beaulieu MCW Competition, Southern Daily Echo, PO Box 543, Southampton, SO16 9ZQ. The closing date is Monday, Jun 13. Normal Echo rules apply.
