CELEBRATIONS surrounded the wedding day of Monxton Couple Bob and Peggy Rogers and 60 years on celebrations surrounded their diamond wedding anniversary.
The couple were married on 9 May 1945, the day after street parties to celebrate VE Day and the day before Peggy's birthday.
This month they celebrated their diamond-wedding anniversary one-day and Peggy's 80th birthday the next. After meeting at a friend's house their love for each other just grew.
On the day of their wedding at Amport Church, villagers who had been celebrating in the village green gathered either side of the church path and packed inside the church.
The couple who have two daughters, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren and another on the way, say it's important in a marriage to be surrounded by family. Bob, aged 83, said: "We are very close to our family. "If they can't visit they will phone."
