Henry Castle's long time coach since turning pro, Fred Phillips, is well and truly putting him through a hard session on the pads in readiness for his Southampton bout on the Jack Bishop bill of June 26.

Featherweight Henry had a serious operation on his right hand in early February and the surgeon said afterwards that he was doubtful if he would box again. Henry followed the doctor's advice and after rest, physiotherapy and a further examination, he was given the OK for light gym work. He then resumed shadow boxing but without sparring.

He has done a lot of roadwork and watched his diet and weight, so much so that he is now working at about his fighting weight, at super featherweight, and is looking forward to his Southampton date.
