SAINTS fans have mixed reactions over Harry Redknapp's decision to stay at St Mary's.

Though most fans are pleased that Redknapp is remaining, there are some who felt it was time for ANOTHER managerial change at the club.

Alan Douglas, from Bassett, said: "I cannot understand why any Saints fan should think Harry should not stay. He inherited a massive squad which, with a few exceptions, was completely lacking in Premiership quality and, even worse, confidence.

"The damage was done long before Harry arrived.

"Also, remember it was Harry who gave Crouch a run in the side - so let's not question his judgement of players.

"Harry is the man to get us out of the Championship - he has done it before and quickly.

"He has had plenty of time to assess the current playing staff, whereas a new manager would take at least two or three months to gain the same knowledge.

"In saying the team was not good enough, maybe Harry was challenging them to prove him wrong - often such comments have proved all the motivation that strong minded players need.

"The last thing Saints needed now was another managerial change."

Maggie Nimmo, from Thornhill, said: "I only want Harry to stay IF he commits to three years with us.

"At the moment he has got about another year left on his contract. Instability returns to the club at a very important time if he left then.

"If he cannot commit to three years he must go now."

John Mackie, from Sholing, said: "We all agree Saints needs stability.

"Harry said we should do our utmost to keep Peter Crouch while we also need Antti Niemi and Nigel Quashie to stay.

"Our best chance of this happening is surely if Harry and Jim stay.

"We could do well to consider taking on Jamie as his father's apprentice."

But not all fans are pro-Harry.

Martin White, from Winchester, said: "Am I the only Saints fan who feels Redknapp is just as culpable as everyone else in overseeing our demise?

"Redknapp had more than enough time to save Saints from relegation.

"His dealings in the transfer window were nothing short of shocking.

"Taking on his own injury-prone son smacked of panic whilst Quashie is nothing more than an honest, workmanlike player.

"His constant crirticising of players was scandalous.

"Even more damning is the way the defence disintegrated once he took over.

"Whilst the record under Wigley and Sturrock was nothing to write home about, at least we looked reasonably solid at the back."

Martin Smirk, from Eastleigh, was also critical of Redknapp's honesty.

"How do you keep heads up when you continually tell the media your players are no good?" he asked.

"Those same players finished 7th and 12th when they were better organised.

"'This team certainly is not good enough to come up' says Harry. Not with that attitude, sunshine!
