TWO girls from Chandler's Ford won medals in the recent Rhythmic Gymnastic Canterbury International Cup.

Natalie Francis, aged nine, achieved highest score of the day for her Under-10 Free and won the gold medal, beating girls from Finland. She was the only British girl on the podium in the under-10 section. Natalie also took part in the hoop, finishing sixth, and this placed her second overall.

Fifteen-year-old Natasha Small competed in the Junior Section, winning a bronze medal in Clubs and another in Ribbon. This was the first time she had performed her new rope and ribbon routine. She was placed fourth in Rope and fifth in Hoop. Her overall position was fourth, beating girls in the British World Class Potential Squad.

Natalie, a pupil of Scantabout Primary School, and Natasha, a pupil of Kings' School Winchester, train at Portsmouth Rhythmic Gym Club and are coached by Jacquie Coombs.
