POWERLIFTERS from Southampton's Terry Morris Gym heaved home a hefty haul of trophies from the British Championships at RAF Brize Norton.
Terry Jex, Eddy Van Niekerk, Felix Awuku, Andy Green and current world champion Rob Hall all gained class wins in a competition involving 60 members of the British Drug Free Powerlifting Association, while Matt Rowe gained a hard-fought second place.
The Hampshire lads powered their way through with exceptional standards of lifting. Awuku and Van Niekerk broke British and European records and Jex, 50 this year, deadlifted 290 kilos to secure first place.
The group are now enjoying a break. Then it's back to the gym to power up for the 2005 World Championships in Turin.
