ANGRY Saints fan Jim Chamberlain has pleaded with Saints' relegation-haunted players: Stop short-changing the public.

Chamberlain owns the football nostalgia shop on Northam Road a goal-kick away from St Mary's, and this week replaced his usual front window display of memorabilia with some stark messages to Harry Redknapp's squad.

Chamberlain's handiwork is pictured on the back page of today's newspaper and is already attracting attention.

"I had a Chelsea fan ring me up and told me he loved the placard," said Chamberlain.

"Another fan told me that Harry Redknapp should bring his players down to the shop, rub their noses in the window and say 'have a look at that!'

"I'm not saying we're doomed, I'm just an angry fan trying to make a point. Hopefully if the players read about it and see it my point will get through.

"I've only made my point out of frustration.

"I chose to put books and programmes about people like Bally, Channon, Nick Holmes and Francis Benali because they always put everything into every game. They always tried their best and never short-changed the public.

"Norwich are a team in the same position as us but they look to be rolling up their sleeves and fighting for everything.

"You only get out of life what you are prepared to put into it. You have to work for everything.

"Norwich will be coming to St Mary's believing they can get a result. We will have to show the passion they will.

"The players must want to go out there and die for the club

"I feel sorry for Harry. When he asked 'who will motivate the motivator?' I felt like asking him 'come and have a cup of tea?' and giving him a big hug.

"Harry looks as though he's given up - trying to get through to these players must be like trying to get through a brick wall."
