SHE'S sure to put big smiles on the faces of even the grumpiest men.

Hampshire-born Lucy Pinder - one of the country's most popular glamour models - can't understand why anyone could be miserable living in Daily Echo territory.

She loves it here and despite spending long days at work in London, she's here to stay.

Twenty-one-year-old Lucy, who lives with her mum and dad in Harestock, near Winchester, is the latest local resident to back the Daily Echo's chuckle campaign.

As reported by the Daily Echo last week, a national survey claimed Southampton people were the most miserable in the country. Two thousand people were quizzed about how happy they felt and how often they smiled and Southampton took the grumpy league title.

Lucy said there's nowhere she'd rather be. The model, who was first spotted by a photographer on Bournemouth beach, enjoys nights at home with family, shopping at WestQuay, watching Saints, and nights out with local friends and her boyfriend, 25-year-old Daniel Hooper, from Winchester.

"I don't think the people here are miserable," Lucy said. "It's nice to go up to London but I prefer Hampshire because there is more of a balance between calm and excitement.

"In London the pace is very fast, people are more miserable there. You get on the Tube and everyone is pushing each other and stressed out.

"I love coming home. I have a lot more fun on a night out in Winchester or Southampton than I do in London. London's great for people-watching but for enjoying myself this is where I like to be.

"I'm certainly happy to back the campaign - up the south coast!"
