JUSTIN ROSE took two notable scalps in the high profile Tavistock Cup match at his newly adopted Lake Nona Club in Orlando, Florida.

The Hampshire golfer beat leading Australian stars Craig Parry and Robert Allenby in the singles section and was second top scorer in a field which included Tiger Woods, who was competing for the rival Isleworth Club.

Rose was four under for the day, one behind Retief Goosen and level with his Lake Nona clubmate Ernie Els.

Because Els was captain of the team, he played off against Goosen for the decisive point but with the players all square after three extra holes and the light fading, the match was declared a draw.

Because of the delayed finish to the Players Championship, the scheduled Tavistock Cup Foursomes competition was cancelled - a pity for Rose, who was due to partner Nick Faldo against Woods and Mark O'Meara.

Rose missed the cut for the Players Championship by one shot after being six under at one stage for his second round.

He said: "My game's in good shape but because I haven't qualified for the Masters, I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go."

He's next in action in the MCI Heritage at Hilton on April 14.
