AN IMPORTANT access point to the River Hamble at Bursledon has been given a £40,000 facelift.
The scheme at The Hard, Land's End Road, was carried out by Hampshire County Council in partnership with Bursledon Parish Council, which owns the land.
The new-look facility was officially opened by the county council's executive councillor for the environment, Councillor Keith Estlin.
The work was carried out using natural materials to improve the appearance of the riverside site which lies within the Old Bursledon Conservation Area.
Concrete kerbs and bollards were replaced with granite and English oak and existing concrete and timber benches replaced with green oak seating hand-sculpted by Alison Crowther.
In addition, the riverbank was reconstructed and the dinghy launching slipway refurbished.
