The children have an extra couple of days off to enable the school to be moved into the newly-completed building.

The extensive changes to the school have seen a new roof replacing the leaky old one, and an extension to the original building, with new classrooms.

This will mean the end of the old temporary buildings which were used to accommodate one class from Year 5 and all of Year 6.

The building works have taken well over a year to complete, but now the school can start the summer term with brand-new facilities.

HATCH Warren WI: The next meeting will be on Thursday, April 7, where the featured speaker will give a presentation about China.

The meeting starts at 8pm at the community centre.

Membership has grown rapidly recently and new faces are always very welcome.

CHURCH charity success: Children from the church of Immanuel with St Mark, based at St Mark's School, in Danebury Road, have been raising money for the charity Send a Cow.

They have held cake sales and collections and, with the support of the wider church, have raised enough money to buy a cow.

The charity operates in the poorest countries of Africa and gives practical support by sending an animal such as a cow, pig, goat, chickens or even bees or fruit trees to communities in need in countries such as Uganda or Ethiopia.

After training, the family is then able to look after the animal, providing themselves with food and selling any surplus.

The children of the Sunday school can congratulate themselves on having found a very practical way of enabling a family in Africa to have a future.

APRIL news: Visitors to The Rabbiter website will have been able to view the new April edition of The Rabbiter before it comes out in print, and quite a few have been caught out by the spoof story for April Fool's Day.
