RADIO 1 DJs Colin Murray and Edith Bowman will be at Southampton nightclub Jumpin' Jaks later this month on the lookout for Britain's next big band.

And the prize up for grabs? Your band on the front cover of the NME!

The question is though: Does your band have what it takes to perform in front of two of the biggest DJs on Radio 1? And can you cut it in front of a packed out venue?

As part of their quest to find Britain's next big band, Colin and Edith - pictured above and the recent winner of the BBC's Fame Academy does Comic Relief - will be scouring Jumpin' Jaks' nightclubs up and down the country.

As well as checking out the talent on offer in Southampton the Radio 1 gang will also be presenting two new bands, the Freefaller and Imperial Vipers live on stage as part of the month-long promotion.

The will be at Jumpin' Jaks in Southampton on April 26 from 10pm.

Freefaller had a debut single called NO8 out last year and follow this with their new single due this month.

The Imperial Vipers have a massive following, have the sound and the look, and have played sell-out gigs at huge venues including taking Europe by storm on a recent tour in true rock and roll style.

With their witty banter and love of all things rock, Colin and Edith are sure to fill Jumpin' Jaks with some of the biggest tunes in rock and guitar based pop at the moment.

Colin and Edith, who pioneer new bands they hear regularly through their own show, are keen to find new talent in Southampton. General manager Shaun Spencer Perkins is too.

He said: "This is a great opportunity for some young bands to get their names and faces known on stage at Jumpin' Jaks. We are really looking forward to the nights and want to hear from any rock bands in the area.''
