HAMWORTHY United followed up Wednesday's notable first-leg League Cup semi-final victory over Gosport with an even more impressive 2-1 win over reigning champs and table-topping Winchester City.
After 20 minutes, former Weymouth defender John Waldock headed in a Anthony Tilley free-kick which was soon followed by ball over the top of the City defence for Tom Rossiter to add a second.
Tilley also rattled the Winchester woodwork before Jamie Musselwhite set up a tense finale with a header from Mark Jones cross on 82 minutes.
"I got slated on Monday evening when I sent out a reserve team for our game at Wimborne," said Hamworthy boss Alex Pike, whose below-strength side were thrashed 7-0 at home by his former club.
"But with six games in 12 days I had to look at the bigger picture and the two results since then prove that I've been justified."
