JAMIE REDKNAPP has hinted he could prolong his career at St Mary's - IF Saints avoid relegation from the Premiership.

The former England international midfielder, pictured below, was his father's second signing when the transfer window opened at the start of last month.

Saints took over Redknapp's Tottenham contract which was due to run out at the end of this season.

But Redknapp junior admits in an exclusive Daily Echo interview today that he might be happy to sign for the 2005/06 campaign as well.

"The way I feel right now I feel good and if we stayed up you never know, I might have another year - but I really don't know," he remarked. "It's been such a good decision to come here and it will be even better if we stay up."

Though Saints remain in the relegation zone after the agony of conceding an injury-time leveller to Everton in their last match, Redknapp is drawing confidence from the performance.

"With the way we played against Everton, it gave me a lot of confidence.," he said.

"The shape of the team was excellent and the new signings were superb.

"Nigel Quashie is as strong as an ox, the fans love Henri Camara already, and Olivier Bernard played ever so well.

"It was encouraging to say the least and if we can carry on playing like that we'll get to safety, and the sooner the better."
