MANY people have been spreading that loving feeling by taking part in a Valentine's message scheme at Fareham's British Heart Foundation shop.

For just £1, people get to scribble their special message on a paper heart which is then posted in the shop window for all to see.

It's a fun idea for Valentine's Day - but the funds raised in shops nationwide will go towards the vital task of training up nurses to deal with heart patients after they have had surgery.

Assistant manager at the shop in West Street, Louise Carroll said it was a huge success so far:

"We've had so many people popping in and writing their messages. Some people have written messages for their wives and husbands and other people have done messages for their cats and dogs!"

She added: "We need to raise £1m throughout the country just with the paper hearts to train the nurses. It's really important."

So far £873 has been raised from four shops across Fareham, Gosport, Shirley and Southampton.

Fareham lovebirds have managed to raise £250 in just one week by proclaiming their love.
