Sir.-With reference to an article in last Friday's Gazette about parking on verges at Houndmills.

Since an expansion of the Houndmills motor park, which now houses some 11 dealers, staff are forced to park anywhere they can find a space.

If every dealer had an average of 50 staff, at one car each, that's a potential 550 spaces required. This may be a high estimate, but even half is a large amount of spaces still to find.

Has the council looked into developing a multi-storey car park at Houndmills?

This area is only going to get busier, and I'm sure that people would have no qualms over paying for peace of mind.

At the end of the day, all these people want to do is drive to work, park and go into work without the worry of going back to their car and having either a parking ticket or being clamped.
