REMEMBRANCE Service: It was lovely to see the area by the War Memorial crowded with those attending the service conducted by Richard Elphick.

Richard reminded us that there were two anniversaries this year. It is 90 years since the start of the First World War and it is 60 years since D-Day and the beginning of the liberation.

He asked us to remember relatives and friends who had been lost in conflict and those currently serving.

Wreaths were laid by the British Legion, the Brownies and the parish council.

Sandy Johnston read from St John, and Ian Bottomley, from the Basingstoke Concert Band, played the Last Post.

POPPIES: Ken tells me that the poppy box was stolen from The Shop on Remembrance Sunday.

Steve said: "Whatever they buy with the money, I hope it chokes them."

SCHOOL reunion: Cynthia said: "It was ever so good at the Mill, and between 15 and 20 of us had a get-together."

She added: "We're going to do it again next year."

EVERGREENS: Percy reported: "We were very pleased with the autumn fair last Saturday.

"We made about £800. Thanks to everyone for their efforts."

BOB! Why not bob bob bob along to the Happy Faces' Christmas bazaar, from 11am to 1pm, on Saturday, December 4?

Further details from Emma on 880002.

NATIONAL Women's Register: The group met recently at Catherine's house for an evening of light-hearted fun.

The evening consisted of a quiz in the form of the board game Chronology.

I'm sad to say the home team lost (Catherine's) and the away team romped home with a win, led by Gill!
