BRITISH band Gomez are on their way to Portsmouth this weekend.

The group from Stockport, who had several hits in the late 90s including Rhythm & Blues Alibi, Whippin' Piccadilly and Bring it On, are on the road promoting their current album, Split The Difference.

It is their fourth studio album and they recorded and produced it themselves in their own purpose-built studio in the Sussex town Portslade.

The band recently toured America, where they played their part in the presidential elections, performing as special guests at the Red Rocks the Vote gig to encourage voter registration.

Gomez wrote about 50 songs and recorded most of them before picking the best for their album.

They are hoping that Split The Difference will be as popular as their first album, Bring It On which, although it was recorded in a garage, went on to the Mercury Music Prize.

Gomez are at the Pyramid Centre in Portsmouth on Sunday. Tickets are priced £15.
