Eastleigh MP David Chidgey is calling on the government to maintain train services to stations in the area following concern over the future of the Cross Country rail franchise.
His move follows news of the Strategic Rail Authority's decision to end negotiations with the Virgin Rail Group on the franchise.
The Eastleigh MP said he was "extremely concerned" by the decision which left the future of Cross Country rail services uncertain and threatened rail services in Eastleigh and the surrounding area. Mr Chidgey has signed a Commons move calling on the government to take the necessary steps to secure the future of the Cross Country operations.
