I WAS curious as to what kind of gig-goers would attend this show, as The Rasmus's pop-goth style of music seems too commercial for hardened rock fans, and slightly intense for chart music devotees.

My curiosity was answered by a swarm of black-clothed teens armed with glow sticks, many sporting devil horns to add to the Hallowe'en spirit.

The Rasmus are a household name in their native Finland and have supported top bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Their recent UK chart success means they're the ones now headlining.

Glaswegian five-piece Hiding Place got the show off to a suitably rocking start, with their instinctive performance contrasting with the well-rehearsed routine of the main act.

The Rasmus's anthemic In The Shadows predictably got the best crowd reaction and new single First Day of My Life also went down a storm.

Their catchy tunes deserve to be in the charts, but one after another the songs were just a bit formulaic.

My highlight was a rocky cover of It's a Sin by The Pet Shop Boys. Maybe I'm just showing my age.
