BASINGSTOKE returned from their short short trip to London Nigerian pointless - losing out in a high-scoring match 48-31.

The north Hampshire side have now lost seven from seven and prop up London League One without a point to their name.

The story is different for Portsmouth though who sit proudly on top of London Two South. They were given a run for their money but managed to hold on against Lewes - winning 21-20.

Coach Bob Millard said: "They didn't win the game - we lost it.

"Our performance was excellent and the committment was fantastic. But you can't give away that many penalties at that level and expect to win. It is something we have to get right."

Guernsey proved that top rugby is not confined to a single Channel Island when they beat injury-stricken Southampton 29-12 at Test Park in London Four South-West.

Southampton have just one win to show for their efforts this season, the same record as neighbours Romsey who failed to put a point on the scoreboard when losing out 46-0 to KCS Old Boys.

Havant are on a mini-roll after following up last weekend's win over Dings Crusaders with another victory.

They travelled to Tabard in National Division Three South and claimed a close encounter by three points - eventually winning 34-31.
