CHAMPIONS WINCHESTER CITY moved a daunting six points clear at the head of the Division 1 table with an emphatic 5-0 victory over second-placed rivals GOSPORT BOROUGH at Privett Park.

"Being a pessimist, I would have taken a draw before the match but we've played really well and it's been an excellent day for the club," smiled City secretary Ray Murphy.

The visitors led on 24 minutes after Mark Smith was tripped by Adam Canfield and Shaun Dyke dispatched the spot-kick.

Four minutes later it was 2-0. Mark Blake's shot was pushed out by keeper Brown and Jamie Musselwhite pounced on the loose ball. Jamie Laidlaw bagged a third right on half time from Smith's cross.

Liam Green's ball over the top of the Borough defence released Musselwhite to make it 4-0 after 76 minutes with Liam Green heading home Ian Mancey's delivery two minutes later to complete their nap hand.
