PETER WARD is out of the Hampshire singles. Sports Centre's former county champion fell 21-17 at home to David Hamilton from Andover.

Hamilton's final wood proved decisive on many occasions and helped him build an 11-1 lead.

Although Ward finally found his weight to go 17-15 ahead, Hamilton swept back with a pair of twos and then two singles to reach the fifth round.

Ward, however, is still going strong in the pairs with Colin Thresher, their latest success being 21-12 in the fourth round against Sports Centre colleagues Ken Prior and Roy Blake.

An all-Banister Park tussle saw Geoff Norgate and Barry Bendall knock out Churcher and Matthews 22-13 while Stewart and Comley (Old Green) overcame Alford and Smith (Sports Centre) 17-13.

The internal clash between two Old Green rinks in the fourth round of the fours went to Clive Tancock 24-8 against Jim Barlow, Jim Barrett (Eastleigh Rail) ousted Peter Line (Atherley) 24-10, Denny Graydon (Fleming Park) beat Alford (Sports Centre) 23-11 and Peter Ward overpowered D Marshall (Eastleigh Rail) 22-13.
