The Little Britain Challenge Cup, the annual construction industry regatta is now the largest corporate sailing event in Europe and is aiming this year to raise a record £100,000 for the charities, the Cirdan and Jubilee Sailing Trusts.

Taking place off Cowes on 7th & 8th September, entries are at an all time high with 220 yachts taking part from every area of the business including, architects, builders, developers and engineers.

The racing is organised by the Royal Yacht Squadron, with Stuart Quarrie as Race Director, as usual there will be two short races on the Friday and a long race on the Saturday. This year will see eight classes to reflect the changing nature of the event.

However competitive the racing gets, the true Corinthian spirit always seems to prevails.

On dry land, the serious programme of social events takes place at the Cowes Yacht Haven and will include a fireworks display on Friday at 10.30pm, with the "Fab Beatles" providing the live music.

While Saturday evening will see the largest sit down/served dinner ever held on the island in the event marquee.
