BLACKFIELD retained their boys' and overall trophy in the penultimate fixture of the New Forest Primary Schools' Track & Field League.

And, to top a great day for the school, their girls also scored a narrow win over newcomers Holbury to put a third piece of silverware on the shelf.

Blackfield's Stephanie Smallwood timed her run to perfection to win the 600m in 2min 09.7sec, backing up sprint victors Holly Kinggett and Kia Hancock.

The surprise of the evening came in the B pool of the javelin where another Blackfield girl, Marie Atkinson, produced a league record of 16.30. Schoolmate Becky Noon topped Pool A with 16.10.

Another league record was toppled in the long jump where Holbury's Emily Forsberg managed 3.80 in Pool A. Ringwood's Beth Lowen came top of the B pool with 3.40.

In the girls' relay, Blackfield had trouble with their last takeover, allowing Holbury and Abbotswood to zoom into first and second respectively.

The boys' competition brought a handy 12.2 80m win for Abbotswood's Spencer Gaunt, while Blackfield's Grant Adlem won the B race in 12.4.

Blackfield scored an A/B 600m double through Damien Farroll (1.59.4) and James Willis (2.01.8) and track dominance was completed by a narrow relay win over Marchwood.

George Karbera (Ringwood) and Callum Smith (Marchwood) both leaped 3.80 in the pool A long jump, while Blackfield's Chay Fields won pool B with 3.50.

There were two more excellent performances in the javelin, with Holbury's Miles Foster dominating pool A with an impressive 21.10 throw and Blackfield's Chay Fields heading the B brigade with 20.90.

The final fixture is at Poulner on Wednesday, July 7.

Match result: Blackfield 75, Holbury 59.5, Marchwood 46, Abbotswood 45.5, Ringwood 44.
