SEXY stage musical The Full Monty is set to raise temperatures at The Mayflower next month.

The musical, about a group of unemployed steel workers who make the most of their assets by setting themselves up as a strip act, runs from July 6 to 17.

Based on the phenomenally successful film of the same name starring Robert Carlyle, it tells the story of a divorced, unemployed father, Jerry, who, in order to continue seeing his son, needs to get some money together.

He hits on a brilliant idea and recruits five equally desperate friends to help him.

Instead of Sheffield, where the low-budget film was set, the musical takes place in the steel town of Buffalo, USA - a similarly bleak and industrial backdrop. Like the film, which grossed £256m worldwide after it took cinemagoers by storm in 1996, the stage show ends with our heroes stripping off.

Featuring music and lyrics by American songwriter David Yazbeck, the show originally opened on Broadway before transferring to the West End, where it scooped the coveted London Evening Standard Award for best musical.

The show contains strong language, so is not recommended for children under 12.
