INDOOR market: This will be in the Village Club on Saturday, June 26, from 9.30am to 11.30am.

There will be all the usual stalls, and a good range of fresh, local-grown fruit and vegetables.

GARDENING club: There is an outing to West Silchester Hall on Thursday.

For more information, call Sylvia Pennington on 298880.

ROMAN Revels: You still have time to buy tickets for a hog roast and a glass of wine together with Roman entertainment by the Kingsclere Players.

This is on Saturday, June 26, at 6.30pm, at Porch Farm on the Newbury Road.

Tickets are available at Swan Street Stores.

GARDEN trail: The Friends of St Mary's are running a garden trail around seven of Kingsclere's gardens on Sunday, June 27.

The trail starts at the Kingsmill Room at St Mary's Church, where you pay your fee of £5 (children are free), and collect a map.

Tea and other refreshments are on sale throughout the afternoon.

FOOTPATHS: The vegetation keeps growing, so despite a heroic effort on our last outing, we still have a lot of clearance work. Meet at the Village Club at 10am on Sunday, June 27.

POLICEMAN: Well, we were promised a replacement for Andy Read within a fortnight, but it looks like it is going to be a little longer before we see a new beat officer.
