Wherwell's journey into Wiltshire looked destined to be blighted when all bar three players where delayed due to accidents.
With his players turning up in dribs and drabs the Wherwell skipper, Paul Whyton was fortunate to win the toss.
In what looked to be turning weather and with only half his team changed he elected to bat.
Steeple Langford struck in the first over dismissing Hamson but Matt Bliss and Dave Langford were able to steady the ship and knock Steeple Langford's confidence.
