SAINTS legend Danny Wallace paid the first of two sentimental visits to the south coast on Saturday.

Wallace, one of the stars of the great Saints sides of the 1980s, is now battling multiple scelerosis and has a testimonial match at St Mary's on May 17.

But he paid his first visit to Saints' stadium on Saturday to pledge his support for a new Kick Racism out of Football initiative.

Former Saints favourite George Lawrence, a good friend of Wallace's, was also at St Mary's to promote the initiative prior to kick off against Bolton.

'Send Racism Off' is a joint initiative between Saints FC, Southampton City Council, The Hampshire FA, the Hampshire Constabulary and the national organisation 'Kick it Out'.

A booklet illustrating and explaining the procedures and practises has been put together to help people gain a greater understanding of how to respond to racist incidents.

The campaign is a spin off from the 'Racism Just Ain't Saintly' initiative which was launched at St Mary's in November 2003.

Head of Saints in the Community Mark Abrahams said: "Racism is not only against the rules but also the spirit of the game.

"This is an important document to guide people who have been affected by any form of racist abuse. We hope it leads to even less racist incidents in the future."

Don John, project leader of 'Send Racism Off', said: "Racial harassment is most easily defined in terms of the effect, which is to humiliate, exploit and undermine individuals.

"Racial harassment is very often directed at African Caribbean, Asian and other visibly non white people.

"But white people can be also subjected to racial harassment."

The booklet will be available from the Hampshire FA from August 1 2004 in time for the new season.

Lawrence commented: "This is important leaflet whether you are a player, a coach, or a supporter.

"This is an opportunity for all those who love football to set the standard for the community as a whole."
