THOMAS McCarthy's beguiling character study collected the Bafta Award for Best original Screenplay.

When his good friend and employer dies, dwarf Finbar McBride (Peter Dinklage) inherits a rundown train station and the introverted loner moves to rural New Jersey to make the building his new home.

There, Finbar befriends chatty hot dog vendor Joe (Bobby Cannavale) and emotionally scarred painter Olivia (Patricia Clarkson), whose tenderness and love for life gradually bring Finbar out of his shell.

In the process, he enjoys a flirtatious romance with a pretty librarian (Michelle Williams).
