A TOUR celebrating some of the biggest songwriters of the 20th century brings golden-voiced crooner Vince Hill to Christchurch on Sunday.

Vince, who had a number one smash hit with the song Edelweiss in 1967, will sing some of the most unforgettable songs by composers such as Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Gershwin and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The show, which opens with the Elton John and Bernie Taupin classic I'm Still Standing, features backing by the Ken McCarthy Trio, who will also play some of Vince's other memorable hits, including The Roses of Picardy and Look Around.

Having worked with everyone from Shirley Bassey to Jack Benny, Vince has a lifetime of showbiz stories and gossip to call on.

During the show, entitled Celebrating the Great Songwriters, he will be taking questions from the audience and regaling them with anecdotes.
