AN Andover mum of two has taken advantage of the leap year and proposed to her boyfriend on Valentine's Day.

Joanna Robins, aged 34, of Pilgrims Way, cooked a special meal for Stephen Fowler, aged 39, a father of four, who lives nearby - also in Pilgrims Way.

She set the scene by filling the bathroom with candles, the bath with rose petals and placing a ring on the palm of her hand under some bubbles, before asking Stephen to marry her.

He accepted and followed Joanna's proposal by going out to buy her a diamond ring and getting down on one knee himself. Joanna said: "I know you are supposed to wait until 29 February, but that date didn't really mean anything to us, so I wanted to make Valentine's Day really special.

"We're soulmates. Every-thing he's into, I'm into and we know what each other is thinking.

"We've had a tough time of it, but against the odds we've made it."
