THE Titchfield Bonfire Boys are celebrating their most successful fundraising year in the group's 120-year history.

The group handed out £15,340 to local groups in Titchfield and surrounding areas last year thanks to their successful money raising efforts.

Top of the success stories were the blues and folk nights held at Titchfield Abbey.

However, the group lost about £3,000 staging last year's Tichfield Carnival.

Despite attracting thousands of visitors to the village square organisers say the event rarely breaks even.

Bonfire Boys chairman Julian Gibbs said: "Looking back over the years we can say that last year was our most successful.

"I would like to thank everyone involved, and the committee members for their time and effort as well as Fareham council's support."
