TROJANS lined up a probable Hampshire Cup semi-final date with City of Portsmouth after Wayne Shepherd scored four times in the 7-1 rout of Fareham at Henry Cort.

The sides will lock horns at Stoneham Lane next month - provided Portsmouth beat Basingstoke in their quarter-final.

Winchester's reward for turning the tables on Bournemouth is a semi-final visit to cup favourites Havant.

The finals are at Bournemouth Sports Club on Monday May 3.

Trojans certainly turned on the style in the initial stages against a weakened Fareham, with Shepherd tucking away a couple of rasping drag-flicks from penalty-corner injections by Simon Lucas.

With Chris Wiseman making mazy, probing runs into the D, Fareham were all at sea and it was no surprise when Craig Sommerville's penalty flick and a soft fourth by Lucas gave Trojans a 4-0 interval advantage.

Steve Lemon clawed a goal back for Fareham but normal service soon resumed with Shepherd scoring twice more and Colin French notching the seventh.

Winchester turned a 3-1 deficit against Bournemouth into a thrilling 4-3 victory.

They took the lead through Ali Adams but, shortly after half-time, were 3-1 down.

Even so, a Neil Barr penalty flick, aided by an Andy Winnett brace, turned the tie in Winchester's favour.

All three local clubs enjoyed positive Hampshire/Surrey Regional League results, with Suni Bolina seizing the chance to lead the Trojans attack with a hat-trick in the 5-1 demolition of Old Mid Whitgiftians.

Wayne Shepherd and Chris Wiseman got the other goals for Trojans.

Hamble, who face Preston in the EHA Trophy at Satchell Lane on Sunday, should have scored more than the goals Steve Barber and Dave Foster got against Basingstoke.

They missed a string of chances and underwent a nervy finale after Danny Bowden had trimmed Hamble's lead to 2-1.

Winchester scrambled a 1-1 draw at London Edwardians - Ben Hibberd scoring with a late penalty flick - while the reserves compensated for a thumping 5-1 defeat in the capital by beating Southampton II 3-1 in the Hampshire Second XI Trophy through strikes by Ken Laughter, Eric Woodward and Jem Evans.
