LOCAL resident Michaela McCallum produced a performance of the highest quality to win the 2004 Winchester 10k Road Race.
McCallum, second Briton behind Paul Radcliffe in last year's London Marathon, propelled herself into the UK top ten with a winning time of 35 minutes and eight seconds.
Such was her dominance that she left the second-placed woman, Abigail Bayley of Weymouth, well over three minutes behind.
The vet-35 runner's time was enough to place her 11th in the race overall - a performance made all the more remarkable considering the hilly and windy conditions.
After finishing runner-up last year, Southampton Running Club's Simon Plummer went one better this time to lead the field home in 31.53.
Team Concept's men's 40 veteran Mike Trees - twice a past winner - has had a year out of the sport after a motoring accident, but he came back in fine fettle to finish runner-up in 32.40.
