Bashley slumped to their second straight defeat, going down 1-0 at Banbury.
The turning point came on 75 minutes when experienced defender Andy Darnton was penalised for handball and Ady Fuller scored from the spot.
It might have been worse but former AFC Bournemouth 'keeper Jason Harvell, making his debut in the Bashley goal, thwarted a fine solo run from Banbury's Chris Potter.
Bashley are tenth in the Eastern Division and manager John Robson reflected: "We've probably created as much, if not more, than them, but if we don't start taking our chances we could end up in the bottom half."
