COMMUNITY transport, lorry traffic and too little police presence were among the top priorities identified by Whitchurch people who responded to a health check team questionnaire.

Cllr Gill Nethercott said of those who received a questionnaire a total of 335 responded - 17 per cent.

She said some of the issues were already being tackled, particularly community tran-sport. Mrs Nethercott said one area of major concern was surface noise from the A34 but one side of the road would be resurfaced with quieter material in the spring and the other side in the autumn of next year.

The aim of the health check team, she said, was to create a short-term and long-term action plan, but the organisation would have to change into something like a trust before it could apply for funds.
