CREW members from HMS Southampton took time off from swabbing the decks to do a spot of DIY.
The handy matelots put their skills to work redecorating five homes and a community centre in the Nichol's Town area in support of the mayor Parvin Damani's charity Scratch.
The sailors also re-decorated a tenant's home in Spring Vale Road, Swanmore owned by the Winchester Housing Group. The charity - Southampton City and Region Action to Combat Hardship - works to relieve the effects of poverty by providing furniture, household items, clothing and emergency food to families in Hampshire.
The sailors' tough stint of decorating concluded with a reception hosted by the Mayor of Southampton, who is also Admiral of the Port.
