MITSUBISHI announced its 2004 UK Shogun range this month.

The iconic on/off-roader is set to climb to new heights in specification, refinement and value for money. Since being introduced 21 years ago, the Shogun has positioned itself as a benchmark for the 4x4 sector. This theme continues with the latest model still setting standards to which others aspire.

The most important attribute of the 2004 Shogun is the inclusion of Mitsubishi's state-of-the-art MASTC (Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control). This unique system delivers maximum control in all driving conditions across all models in the range.

Another significant modification to the 2004 Shogun is the price. Despite the level of equipment being increased across the range, a revised pricing structure ensures that customers will get more for their money, whatever model they choose.

The flagship of the Shogun fleet is the bold and well-equipped Warrior. Its high specification and stunning looks confirm it as a leader in the 4x4 market.

For the 2004 model year, the price of the LWB Warrior remains static at £32,499, and now comes with a host of extras including MASTC, 10 CD autochanger and Smartnav all fitted as standard.

Alongside the Warrior sits sister model the Shogun Elegance. Shogun Elegance LWB also remains at the 2003 price of £32,499 and gains, as standard, MASTC, satellite navigation, 10 CD autochanger, a wood centre panel plus a wood and leather wrap steering wheel.

Further down the range, the Classic gains climate control and the Equippe has a CD/ stereo as part of the package.

Both Classic and Equippe LWB models have been reduced in price by £750 and £1,000 respectively.

Each offers customers the opportunity to experience legendary Shogun quality, performance, comfort and reliability, at prices that represent best-ever value for money.

The SWB Shogun Classic and Equippe models, also both have MAST and climate control and CD/stereo respectively.

The SWB variations start at £22,199 going through to £27,449 for the SWB Warrior with its leather interior, CD/stereo, 18" alloys, automatic transmission and heated power seats as standard - the MASTC system is available as an added extra.

The 2004 range comprises 13 variations based on three-door short-wheel-base and five-door long-wheel-base body styles.

There are five levels of specification and two engine types - the 3.2-litre DiD (direct injection diesel) and 3.5-litre GDi (gasoline direct injection) V6 power plant.

Mitsubishi's innovative INVECS-II learning five-speed automatic transmission, with its manual shift option and switchable Sports Mode, is fitted as standard to the Elegance and Warrior editions and is offered as an option on both Equippe models and the LWB Classic.
