Poole Town's hierarchy ordered an inquest after Saturday's 3-0 home flop against Hampshire League Premier Division championship rivals Andover New Street.

The Andover side seem to have the Indian sign over the Dolphins. They have taken ten points from their last four games and this latest setback for Poole augers badly for their own title chances.

Vice chairman Chris Reeves said: "We gave away a stupid, farcical first goal, went two down within 20 minutes and didn't really get going until the last 15 minutes of the game. It was an unacceptable performance and there was some serious talking afterwards."

Jay Mann forced an own goal which sent Andover New Street on their way. Chris Ferguson added a second on 20 minutes and Casson Spencer wrapped it up in the second half.

But the Andover side still have to catch Horndean who consolidated their league leadership with a thumping 6-0 win at Bishop's Waltham where Steve Warwick brought his tally to five in two league games with a brace of goals. Ashley Howard, Dan Game, Paul Baker and Niall Bodin also got on the scoresheet.

VT made it eight wins from nine games when they crushed struggling Aldermaston 7-0 - five of the goals coming before half-time. Mike Spinney led the scoring spree with five to take his tally for the season to 17. But he still trails Gary Male, who, with Andrew Turner, got VT's other two goals.

Locks Heath manager Kev Parris tipped Lymington Town for a top-six finish after they beat his side 3-1 at Warsash Road.

"We gave them a penalty and a rare goalkeeping slip by Matt Wilsher contributed to their third goal," said Parris, "but on the day they were the better side and, with the players they've got, should get top six."

Locks' consolation came from Steve Trott late in the game.

Hythe and Dibden became the first side this season to beat Liss Athletic in the league. A 25-yard scorcher from Dean Chapman clinched a 2-1 victory for Hythe after Liss had cancelled out a first-half goal from Nathan Oakley.

It was Hythe's third win in four games and, with several former Blackfield & Langley players now in the ranks, last season's strugglers are now looking to push on up into the top half of the table.

Last season's Division 1 title-chasers Verwood have lost leading scorers Robbie Sweetlove and Ian Ptikin and are struggling for goals this term.

A 2-0 defeat by Paulsgrove means they have only one win to their credit this time around.

Scott Rice made a welcome return for Netley Central Sports, two months after suffering a serious ankle injury and rounded off a 4-1 win over Broughton which keeps them top of Division 2.

Rice came on as sub and scored from the penalty spot after Paul Myberg, Matt Oxley and Gary Calder had put them in the driving seat.
