FREE careers advice covering CVs, adult guidance and starting up a business will be available to all visitors to the Southern Daily Echo Job Scene Roadshow taking place at the Guildhall, Southampton, on Thursday.

A CV is often the first contact with a prospective employer and it is vital to ensure the document contains all the relevant information and is presented well.

Visitors who don't already have a CV can obtain advice from VT Careers Management Southern, who will be present in the CV Clinic throughout the event.

Even visitors who think their CV is fine can stop by at the CV Clinic for feedback on ways to improve it.

Visitors aged over 20 who are looking for future career or training direction or wanting to return to work after a break can gain relevant

advice from Link2Learn, who will be operating the Adult Careers Advice Clinic.

Advice will be available on completing application forms and making a good impression in interviews, direction on training and careers, sourcing childcare solutions as well as guidance on funding and travel issues.

Budding entrepreneurs should stop for a coffee in the business start-up Internet cafe operated by Southampton City Council.

The authority's economic development team will be on hand offering information on issues relating to running or setting up a business, including putting together a business plan, advice on working out the financial implications of becoming self-employed and putting your plan into action.

The roadshow is open from 10.30am to 7pm and admission is free. Anyone interested in the world of careers, work and training is welcome regardless of previous experience, circumstance or age.
