STAFF at the Asda hypermarket in Chandler's Ford will be just tickled pink to hear from anyone willing to help them break the record for the world's biggest singalong tomorrow.

Choirs, bands, budding singers, community groups - in fact anyone willing to step forward and help is being asked to sign in at the customer service desk at the store at 4.30pm for the sing-along record attempt 30 minutes later.

The event will be led by pop star Louise from Asda's store in Leyton, London, and broadcast over Asda FM. Participants will sing Don't Give Up which Louise has exclusively recorded for Asda's Tickled Pink Campaign for Breast Cancer Care.

To beat the record more than 83,637 people need to sing simultaneously - which means 293 people are needed at every Asda depot and store throughout the country.

General manager of the Chandler's Ford store Paul Allen said: "We are appealing for anyone and everyone to come forward to help us break the record and raise awareness of breast cancer in the UK.

"It's fantastic news that Louise has agreed to lead the singing. However, it's even better news for me that the singing doesn't need to be in tune."

Asda is also appealing for two independent adjudicators to step forward to ensure the record-breaking attempt at Chandler's Ford is all above board. Anyone interested should contact events co-ordinator Lesley Mead on 023 8026 8341.

Meanwhile, the Chandler's Ford hypermarket is also gearing up for its great balloon race in aid of the Tickled Pink campaign.

Balloons cost £1 each and there's a prize of £100 worth of vouchers for the balloon which travels the furthest from the Chandler's Ford store after they have been released on Saturday.

The finder of the balloon that travels the farthest distance can also net £25 worth of vouchers by returning it to the store.

Since 1996 Asda has raised £3.2m for Breast Cancer Care through its annual Tickled Pink campaign.
