Bembridge Lifeboat's coxswain has retired after 40 years of protecting lives at sea.
Martin Woodward bowed out on his 55th birthday.
In retirement, Mr Woodward, of Beach House Lane, Bembridge, will spend more time travelling and on stepping up his diving, salvage and consultancy business here and overseas.
His successor is Steve Simmonds, 48, from Howgate Road in Bembridge.
