CAMPAIGNERS from St Denys Church in Southampton are urging the government to demand fair trade for the world's poorer countries.
Members of the church presented Southampton Test MP Dr Alan Whitehead with 52 cards signed by concerned Christians in the lead-up to the World Trade Organisation meeting, which is due to be held in Mexico this week.
They asked Dr Whitehead to present the cards to Trade and Industry Minister Patricia Hewitt, who will be attending the high-level trade talks.
Cathryn Spiller, social action co-ordinator at the church, said: "It is about changing world trade rules to make them fairer for poorer nations."
