PRIMMER Olds has been appointed to dispose of an unusual building in Southampton - a former mortuary chapel.

It is acting on behalf of the Southampton and Solent Building Preservation Trust and the property has been restored to provide about 1,900 sq ft of office accommodation.

The building is of unique architectural importance and the development by the trust has been possible only because of funding from the Architectural Heritage Fund in partnership with Southampton City Council, which owns the freehold of the premises.

The property was derelict for 27 years and was on the buildings at risk register.

All alterations which have been carried out at the property are reversible and have respected the integrity of the existing features of the building.

Agent Duane Walker said: "This unusual building would suit a local company seeking to acquire their own building with its own distinct identity."
