MISS Saigon is one of the classic romantic musicals of modern times.
But when the spectacular West End show comes to Southampton later this year, it will have an added touch of realism - because its two leads have just got engaged.
And audiences at The Mayflower could have an extra reason to celebrate, as David Shannon and Ima Castro say they will probably get hitched in the city.
The £4m touring show, which tells the story of the love affair between an American GI and a Vietnamese girl in the final days of the Vietnam War, will reopen The Mayflower in September following a major refurbishment for the theatre.
David, 31, and Ima, 27, revealed their romance at a high-profile launch for Miss Saigon at The Mayflower yesterday
The couple fell in love after David joined the show's cast last year.
"We met in July but we didn't get together until December - I'm absolutely rubbish at asking women out," said David. "It was the worst-kept secret in the company. Every-one was waiting for it to happen."
A £1.6m refurbishment begins at The Mayflower in April.
You can see the show at The Mayflower from September 19 to December 13. Box office: 023 8071 1811.
