Hamble ASSC prepared for tomorrow night's clash at home to Eastleigh with a 2-0 win at Downton.
Louie Langdown scored a first-half penalty after Jamie Hill had been upended and then Steve Whitcher reacted first to seal the points midway through the second half following a collision in the Downton defence.
Manager Larry Clay said: "We dominated and could have had a few more but the most pleasing thing was the performances of the subs and the players that came in because we weren't at full strength.
"Downton are in a false position, they're not far off being a good side."
