SOUTHAMPTON firm CyphaWare is set to use government funding to develop what is believed to be the world's first software-only complete encryption solution for digital audiovisual media.
CyphaWare based at Ocean Village has won the Smart Award to develop CyphaLock.
The product will incorporate the latest industry standard 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard. CyphaWare are able to adapt the levels of encryption to meet non-standard requirements.
Mr Nicholas Bentley, managing director of CyphaWare said: "Without the grant, funds would have been limited and the project would not be so far advanced. The Smart Award has enabled us to take advantage of a significant opportunity. CyphaLock will be one of the most powerful and flexible solutions of its type in the marketplace, ideal for the digital anti-piracy and security markets which are huge. We are now able to seek strategic partners to exploit these markets."
