Gosport hot shot Neil Scammell could be out for the rest of the season after damaging ankle ligaments in a 1-1 draw at Cowes Sports.
Forty-goal Scammell hobbled off ten minutes into the second half, when Mick Marsh's side were trailing to a 29th-minute Phil McDonald header, leaving Gosport's already fading hopes of catching Eastleigh in tatters.
But midfielder Danny Sturman ensured that it was not a totally disastrous day for the Privett Park club. Sturman rolled home an 89th-minute equaliser from six yards after latching on to an Adam Camfield through ball.
Gosport press officer Glenn Perry said: "Neil went over on his ankle and then had to be helped off - it didn't look good. He could be back in four weeks but it looks as though it will be longer."
