TOMORROW'S Six Nations Championship kick-off means league action - bar those re-arrranged clashes - takes a fortnight sabbatical, although a few friendly games may have early starts to allow viewing from Twickenham.

Southampton travel across the border to the Southern Counties South title chasers, Bournemouth-based outfit Oakmeadians, for the first-ever meeting between the two clubs at first XV level.

The Oaks are a level ahead of Saints and should win but the visitors are keen to show they are capable of competing against higher-level opponents.

Talented youngsters Sam Gordon and Chris Jehu, who have impressed in the second XV of late, are given starts at fly-half and on the wing respectively, so Dave Griffiths tries his hand at scrum-half and skipper Tony Cador moves to full-back.

Scott Rowe, who recently left Havant due to lack of first team opportunities, has signed for the Test Park outfit and is put onto the bench for his debut outing in the red and white.

There is a chance that Romsey and Trojans could switch leagues at the end of the season, so the hosts would like nothing more than to test the water and come through with a win against the troubled visitors.

Romsey resist the chance to experiment, naming a strong side that is only missing scrum-half Darren Sharpe and skipper Ben Hewitt.

Stoneham Park, having been on a good run of form before the festive break, picked up their first win of 2003 last week in beating Brockenhurst & Lymington 12-0 so they go to Alresford full of hope, although the hosts are doing well in Hampshire Two.

New recruits Sean Nanson and Sholta Bell performed well on their debuts and are looking like valuable additions to their squad.

Tottonians are without a game at first XV level, but their second side will be boosted as they take on Andover II with some eight first team regulars included. Andover will do the same, with Fijian Tiko Viliamu and lock Stuart Dawson joining the very young All Black outfit.
